I've been hearing about this place called Jimbo's Joint when I'm out and about. I remembered the article some time ago when they first opened, but for some reason I envisioned it being further in the downtown area of Central Ave. I just happened to see this place as I was going by, so I stopped in. It was dinner time and I was hungry. so it made sense to check it out!
ONE CRAZY SUMMER SANDWICH
They have a very large menu, with many unusual items. I must say the sandwich was very good...a little spicy, but I liked that and the roll was a little to much. Everything is very clean and brand new, a very nice place...Which makes me wonder who are the money people behind a place like this. I was the only customer at the time.
The girl behind the counter who waited on me wasn't very experienced and it also makes me wonder who is managing this place. The help could use a little training.... Seems to be par for the course in most of the new places I have recently visited.
She ask me what I wanted to drink and I noticed the soda and since it didn't seem to be a place that would have alcohol I assumed that soda was all they had. Turns out they also have beer.. a few cans of beer not displayed very well...just doesn't get it, but I guess there is also a sign which I didn't see...so maybe I should look around more! The girl never told me what the drinks were! Also they asked if I wanted a small, medium or large drink... I said small and she told me to help myself around the corner at the soda machine. They had all the cup sizes there for you to use... so I guess I could have gotten a large one for the price of a small one if I wanted to... Like I said who is the manager of this place!
Also when I came in, the counter where you sit to eat, which is not very large, was full of kids coloring books, crayons and etc. I guess the help uses the place as a daycare also.... not a good practice for a business... not very inviting.
All in all...I liked the place... some better management...some training for the employees and I think the place might make a go of it... Just based on the large unusual food selection. I can't wait to try some of their other items.
